By Ava

Want to revamp your hairstyle, but scared to lose the length? Well, look no further because you’ll find a wealth of image-changing tips that don’t require you to cut even a single strand of hair in our post below. Keep reading to find out what they are.

Try a different parting

So simple, but incredibly effective unusually parting your hair can give you an entirely new look with very little effort at all. Try a side parting first, and then when you get a bit more confident with partings, why not go for something like the zig zag pattern you see below which can look particularly good with updos.

Get extensions

Instead of cutting your hair, what about making it longer? With extensions, you won’t have to wait for your hair to grow to see what it would look like longer, more full, and even with some additional color. There are lots of different types of extensions to try from ones that clip or tap in, to longer-lasting options installed by specialists in the salon with glue or by being sewn into your hair.

Add some curls

Curling has long been a way to change up a look without having to resort to a new haircut. There are plenty of options when it comes to curling your hair as well. The most permanent option is to get a perm. This is when your hairstylist uses plastic rods, and strong chemicals to break the cast of your hair and reset it into curls. The advantage of having a perm is that it lasts long term, which means you won’t have to curl your hair every day.

Alternatively, you can opt for temporary curls by using a heating iron. There are lots of different sizes of curling tongs available from very small which will provide you with the tightest curls to very large which will provide you with big bouncy curls that add volume to your hair.

You can even curl your hair without using any heat at all. Most no-heat methods are based on the robe belt curl technique which uses a long piece of fabric, which is used to wrap the hair around. Then all you need to do is leave it overnight and you’ll have gorgeous bouncy curls the next morning.

Rock a brand-new color

If you want to totally reinvent your hair but do not want to cut it then getting a new color is definitely the right choice. Of course, when you have decided to dye your hair, you then have the problem of picking the right shade to dye it. There are lots of factors to consider when picking a shade such as whether it will go with your skin tone. For example, these gorgeous and on-trend mushroom blonde hair colors are cool-toned. That means they’ll work perfectly on folks with cooler undertones in the skin.

Volumize

One of the fastest and most simple ways to change the look of your hair without having to get it cut is to add volume. Now you may think that the only way to add volume is with layers at the salon, but this is not the case.

Indeed, there are several options you can try. First of all, if you are looking to create more volume at the roots, flip your hair upside down and apply a strong-hold hair spray at the roots. Make sure to keep your head in that upside-down position for at least a minute so the hair spray can set. Then flip back over and you should have loads more volume than you started with.

You can also enhance this process by backcombing your hair at the roots. To do this you will need to take a comb and grab a section of your hair. Once you have applied your hair spray move the comb in downward motions along the hair shafts so some of the hair bunches up. When you have done this to all the areas in which you require more volume, flip your head back over. Then take the same comb or a thin brush and go over the backcombed sections smoothing them so the top of your hair remains shiny and flat, with the increased volume underneath.

Braid your hair

Another great way of completely transforming the look of your hair without having to go anywhere near the scissors is to experiment with plaits. There are so many different types of plaits or braids to try as well these days, it’s incredibly easy to find one that suits your hair type and style.

For example, milkmaid braids have been very on trend for a while now. They are super easy to do as well, as all you need is to split your hair into two bunches each one just below the ears. Then plait each bunch and pull up to the front of your head and pin. If you have thin hair, using clear hair elastics is a beast, and layering one braid in front of the other to give a more polished finished world well. However, if you have thicker hair, you might be able to weave one braid into the other for a crown look.

You can also easily add a scarf to this kind of style for another different kind of look. Follow the instructions but once you have your hair in bunches get a square hair scarf. Fold the scarf over until it becomes long and thin and weave one end through the back of the hair band holding your left bunch in place, then do the same with the other end of the scarf and the right bunch. Then instead of splitting each bunch into three strands to plait, split your hair into only 2 and use a scarf as the third strand. Plait, and then fix the end of each braid with a clear elastic band and affix it on top of your head as before.

Try out a shorter style with a fake bob

Last of all, if you are considering cutting your hair, but just not quite ready yet, then why not give a fake bob a whirl? A fake bob isn’t a wig, instead, it’s a way of styling your current hair to give you the look of a bob without having to commit to cutting off your precious locks.

The good news is that a fake bob couldn’t be similar to style at home. All you need to do is divide your hair into two loose and low pigtails. Then use U-shaped pins to tuck these up at the back of your head forming the fake bob shape. Then accessories as you see fit, perhaps with an Aliceband or a stylish clip at the front to give you an idea of just how versatile this type of cut can be.
