Young & Restless Spring/Summer 2011 – The Flying Squirrel

Fresh from showing at Amsterdam’s Modefabriek NEXT Designer Platform, Young & Restless, the local label by stylist and creative director of Test Shoot Gallery Ashburn Eng, has unveiled its second collection named ‘The Flying Squirrel’. The inspiration comes from an imagination of a squirrel in an urban landscape (which just explains the ingenius campaign shot with HDB flats as the backdrop). Ashburn worked with simple geometrical shapes which took cues off modern architectures and the pieces are formed from basic shapes like squares, circles and triangles.

The colours are a departure from the austerity of his debut F/W 10/11 collection, and we particularly dig the ones in mint – a very fresh colour for Spring which goes really well with the drape-y flowy fabric. And what’s not to love about the little back dress?
