Local models who ruled the runway this AFF
This year’s Audi Fashion Festival did not fly in an international supermodel like Carmen Kass or Tao Okamoto, but that might be a good thing because the local models finally got the chance to shine this year, especially Sheila Sim who just looks better and better! (Maybe it’s all her SK-II regimens?). Some of newbies just made their runway debut and some of them are pan-asian, most importantly they are homegrown and they did a really good job! Here are the three faces that left an impression:
Hanli Hoefer, half-Singaporean and half-German 19 year-old signed with Avenue Management. This girl is just a natural on the runway, it’s really rare to see a model that looks healthy and didn’t walk like a zombie. Hanli has a signature walk, her head swings a little from side to side to the music sometimes when she walks down the runway, and she seems really confident. She was on the cover of Her World February issue by the way!
Fiona Fussi, half-Austrian and half-Hong Konger from Singapore, signed with Elite Model Singapore. Fiona needs no introduction, probably one of the most recognizable faces in Singapore modeling scene right now. The teen model made her professional catwalk debut walking for Esther Perbandt on Day 2 of Audi Fashion Festival and like what you would have expected of her, she was poised, calm and composed. One good thing about Fiona is that she seems to be able to pull off any type of makeup really well and she looks stunning every angle in any lighting.
Sara Chan, 21 year old model from Singapore, signed with Mannequin. If you are talking about a model that is 100% local, see Sara Chan. Standing at 5 ft 11 (that’s around 1.80 metres) she has the frame that’s made for runway. She walked for Blueprint as well as the two big international shows Zac Posen and Roland Mouret, pretty impressive!
