Three asian models to watch out for
The hottest asian models right now are Liu Wen, Sui He, Sun Fei Fei, Ming Xi etc, but every season now and then there’re always new faces popping up on the runways that look promising. With all the hype over China and Asia now, it looks like all the agencies have been pushing for their own Liu Wens.
Chiharu made her debut at Prada last season (Spring/Summer 2013) and went on to walk for Balenciaga and Miu Miu. For Fall/Winter 2013/14 she started the season with an impressive showlist in New York Fashion Week which continued through out the entire month till end of Paris Fashion Week. While many asian models carry a delicate, porcelain beauty vibe and always ready to smile for the cameras, Chiharu come across as pretty intense, with a “don’t mess with me” stare. It’s been a while since a Japanese model made waves in the modeling scene (don’t you miss Tao Okamoto?)!
Soo Joo Park
Soo Joo Park cleverly distinguishes herself from the rest by being one of the very few asian models to have platimum blonde hair. Bleached hair for brunettes is a b***h to maintain as the dark roots grows out, so kudos to that. She also bleached her eye brows. Great move by the agency because she does stand out amongst the other models. The effort paid off – the korean model walked for Chanel this season, as well as Lanvin, Fendi, Tom Ford and Zac Posen.
Li Xiao Xing might not be everywhere on the runways but her super sharp cheekbones and odd high forehead has scored her bookings at Dolce & Gabbana, Hermes and several big shows.
The chinese model also appeared on ELLE Italia‘s September issue.
