Hermes “Couleurs de l’ombre” Exhibition at STPI

You can always trust Hermes to present you with another great exhibition in Singapore, do you remember “The Gift of Time” at Tanjong Pagar Railway Station last year? This Spring, don’t miss the COULEURS DE L’OMBRE exhibition by Hiroshi Sugimoto, whom Hermès partnered with for the third edition of Hermès Editeur. The Japanese artist/photographer has created a limited edition of 140 scarves for Hermès with each one a redesign of the famed square scarves known as carrés. They remind me of polaroid photographs of sunrise, but in super concentrated colours and the gradient adjusted to perfection. The printing is actually a very precise process, videos of the making of the scarves are shown at the venue, you can also watch it here.

The artist himself Hiroshi Sugimoto was at the opening personally yesterday evening and gave a short speech in front of all the attendees and guests. Hiroshi mentioned that he never thought he would be collaborating with fashion houses, but he enjoyed working with the french luxury brand.

Opening to public today, COULEURS DE L’OMBR runs from 23rd January to 2nd March 2013, 10PM – 6PM from Tuesday to Saturday at the Singapore Tyler Print Institute, 41 Robertson Quay.
