OH! Open House – an art walkabout

An Art Walkabout curated by Alan Oei, Qinyi Lim, Zineng Wang – the OH! Open House showcases 12 artists transforming 6 HDB flats at Marine Parade Singapore. The concept is pretty new – instead of admiring art at quiet galleries, you get to walk into other people’s flats with fellow enthusiasts and look at how art can blend into their normal daily lives.

One place that we particularly liked is the mirror/upside-down room by artist Jes Brinch – the entire floor is empty except for mirrors and the furniture are stuck on the roof facing down, it gives a super surreal feeling, as if you are stepping on top of a room or that there is a room underneath the floor.

Each tour is estimated to be around 1 – 1.5 hours, you will be walking a lot, so do wear slippers/sandals, it’s easier to get in and out of each stop. The tickets are priced at SGD$10 each, the last two days of the OH! Open House is on this coming Saturday and Sunday 15 & 16 January 2011 from 4 – 830pm, last ticket sale at 730pm.
