Moncler debuts ‘Grenoble’ + NYFW midweek summary

It’s hard not to blog write about Moncler sometimes. Some people just love a bit of drama. Moncler unveiled the new Grenoble line during NYFW at Chelsea Piers’ waterfront golf club. It might be the same military theme as the mens presentation last month, but it certainly didn’t fell short of expectations of the usual Moncler ‘operatic’ setting.

A few words to sum up New York Fall ’10 Fashion Week so far— a lot of fur this season, at Marc Jacobs and Thakoon, the latter took inspiration from a half-shaven sheep. Also, leather dresses, you might need some ass-kicking bod to pull that off for the Fall/Winter season.

The two specially noted up-and-coming designers Altuzarra and Prabal Gurung get Team Vogue Paris and US’s support respectively, Carine brought Julia and Anna brought Bee. Smells like some competition between the two designers, both started at the same time (first collection in Fall ’09), now receiving an equal amount of hype after such a short period. Personally, I much prefer Joseph Altuzarra’s overall aesthetics, and the fact that he keeps doing something different every season. I really like Rag & Bone this season as well, great mix of plaid shirts, knit wear and preppy jackets.
