Reporting from London Fashion Week – Burberry Fall/Winter 11/12
If you caught the live stream late last night, you’d agree Burberry was show-stopping this season. Under a large tent in Kensington Gardens, models strutted to the tunes of Dusty Springfield and Adele, showing a collection inspired by the face of the 60’s, Jean Shrimpton. Focusing mainly on outerwear, Christopher Bailey and team worked on straight-cut silhouettes, a slight departure from last season’s lean belted look.
The colour palette was diverse, to say the least, running the gamut from bright orange to black and white, not forgetting all the plaid and forest-tones tossed in between. Celebrities and press alike were all smiles as snow fell during the final walk-through, where models donned the same cropped plastic macs we first saw last month at their menswear show. While the collection lacks cohesiveness, there is undoubtedly a piece for everybody and points must be given for great showmanship.
