Trendspotting: Galactic mode

Written By on May 22nd, 2009

Not trying to catch up with the Star Trek fever here, but the trend that is the galactic prints on dresses.

Probably the starter of them all, is Risto Bimbiloski (Louis Vuitton’s knitwear designer), whose Spring 09′ creations have found fans in supermodels like Angela Lindvall and Anouck Lepere. The dresses with the starry images of the space create a pretty cool visual, very surreal, it is what you would see through a telescope, now on a wearable garment.

and I wondered if Matthew Williamson took ideas from him for his H&M collection.

Some other designers who are following this trend: Marios Schwab (newly appointed Halston designer) and Peter Pilotto. Marios psychedelic prints remind me of mini chemical explosions, or fireworks. Most of his Fall collection used those prints.
