January 2010 magazine covers

Note: Vogue Paris, Teen Vogue, Numéro and Interview are on combined December/January issue, see their covers posted previously here.

Vogue Italia

Karlie Kloss’s second Vogue Italia cover. She is having her moment right now isn’t it? Hermes campaign, Dior campaign and now the cover, watch out for Karlie explosion in the February/March shows.

About the concept, I believe Singapore L’Officiel did something similar before (‘Balancing acts’, see it here), but since Karlie’s ‘fall’ is from the front view and on runway, it is much much more believable. Actually, it reminds me of the Monika Jagaciak fall at Herve Leger last Fall show season.

Vogue US

Rachel McAdams in Dolce & Gabbana.
Highlight of the issue — Sasha Pivovarova’s editorial with 8 music headliners, ph by Meisel.

Vogue UK

Rachel Weisz in Louis Vuitton, ph by Tom Craig.

Vogue Germany

Toni Garrn ph by Camilla Akrans. Love the face shot, shadow and lighting are brillant.

Vogue España

Aline Weber

Vogue Russia

Natasha Poly ph by Sølve Sundsbø. It’s refreshing to see magazine covers with very very minimal use of text.

Vogue China

Kendra Spears

Vogue Nippon

Daria Werbowy in Chloe. Daria was also the Vogue Nippon January cover girl for 2009. They probably like her to kick start the year.

Vogue Korea

Sasha Pivovarova ph by Craig McDean. Reprint from the editorial ‘It’s a matter of Glam’ in Vogue Italia October ’09. Check out the text… dissolved into the dried leaves. Oh no.

Vogue India

Sonam Kapoor.

Vogue Taiwan

Some boys.

Vogue Australia

Catherine McNeil in a newly blonde hair. Great to see her still fronting covers after disappearing for one entire show season.

Vogue Latin America/Mexico

Sasha Pivovarova ph by Patrick Demarchelier. Reprint of Vogue UK’s August ’09 cover.

Vogue Greece

Jennifer Garner ph by Craig McDean.

The size issue with contributions from Karl Lagerfeld, Sølve Sundsbø, Sebastian Faena and Terry Richardson. Check out the preview of the editorials at models.com, the issue is out on 14th January.

Dazed & Confused

Courtney Love ph by Yelena Yemchuk

Numéro Tokyo

Caroline Trentini

    i like china and korea!

I certainly love to see Karlie, I just find it great that Franca Sozzani is willing to be innovative with Meisel, they’ve come up with so much unexpected things. My favs are going to Vogue Germany and Vogue Russia

absolutely agree about minimal cover text. i wish we could go back to the days of old school vogue paris, with just one cover line. it really let the image shine through. now all we see is magazines vomiting their entire contents on the cover… not pretty.
