Good times in Tokyo, AnOther Magazine Spring/Summer 2011

It’s not very often that you come across an editorial that has a meticulous and scientific approach, yet still full of charm and natural, easy calm. Take a look at Japanese supermodel Ai Tominaga’s spread in the latest issue of AnOther Magazine Spring/Summer 2011 – photographer Anders Edstrom shot Ai lazing on a park bench using the changing light over the course of the day to create a kind of photographic sundial, and the theme is based on a 70s image – layering swimwear over masculine shirting – styled by Karen Langley. What makes the spread even more special is that it was photographed in a random park on the outskirts of Tokyo, Japan pre-Earthquake, and it just evokes a bitter-sweet vibe.
