Bazaar & Ion Photography Awards Winners 2011

The results of the second Bazaar x Ion Photography Awards have been unveiled! This year’s winner is Ng Sok Eng (of Berry Happy photography) for the first prize and Clifford Loh (cliffordloh.com) in second place.

The competition is challenging because everyone had to shoot at the same place – the stunning ION SKY which overlooks the entire stretch of Orchard Road. Photographers have to differentiate their style from each other and yet capture the beauty of the gallery-like space.

For Sok Eng, the inspiration behind the shoot was “a futuristic vision, distilled for modern architecture”. We like the slightly darker and edgier tone in the photos. Clifford on another hand, wanted to “created the illusion of alternative spaces by playing with mirror reflections and empty windows.” The huge amount of lighting that comes through the windows in the photos has indeed made the shoot extra heavenly and dreamy even.

Check out the rest of the winners work in the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar Singapore, page 118.
