August 2011 magazine covers + editorials
Check out RTT’s monthly round-up of all major magazine covers plus editorial highlights!
Steven Meisel has a tendency to shoot whoever he photographed for the recent Lanvin campaign for the Vogue Italia cover (think Mariacarla, Kristen McMenamy, Iselin Steiro in the past few seasons). This time it’s the super versatile supermodel Raquel Zimmermann, in a brown wig and Ralph Lauren halter neck gown.
Lara Stone clearly remains as one of Vogue Paris’s favourite covergirl even after Carine Roitfeld’s departure – this is her seventh French Vogue cover in four years, photographed by Inez & Vinoodh. For the usual new collections mega editorial – it is shot in LA this time with Lara Stone, Freja Beha Erichsen, Natasha Poly, Arizona Muse, Isabeli Fontana and Raquel Zimmerman. Anna Selezneva, Sigrid Agren, Jourdan Dunn and Snejana Ohopka are featured inside this issue as well.
Fronting Vogue US’s The Age Issue for the second time (the first in 2003), Mario Testino photographs Vogue regular Sarah Jessica Parker in Burberry. Inside this issue there are a few heavily colour saturated editorials – Raquel by Steven Klein, Karlie Kloss by Craig McDean – and also ‘Double Take’ by Steven Meisel starring a huge cast wearing Fall/Winter 11/12 latest pieces.
In an extremely timely manner, Mario Testino photographed the newly wed Kate Moss for her 31st Vogue UK cover, with the supermodel in a Miu Miu F/W 11/12 piece. Other editorials in this issue includes an all british cast of Jourdan Dunn, Agyness Deyn, Edie Campbell, Pixie Geldof, George Barnett, Agyness Deyn, Felicity Jones, Kaya Scodelario and also a solo Suvi Koponen in a streetstyle-like spread.
In a surprising move, German Vogue used British photographer Miles Aldridge (Vogue Italia regular and Kristen McMenamy hubby) for their August cover story. Claudia played the part of a va-va-voom vixen in all-black ensembles. Also in this issue – Katrin Thorman and Iris Strubegger by Gregory Harris and also a solo Anais Pouliot by Horst Diekgerdes.

Dazed & Confused
When you’ve got Bjork you know the cover will surely turn out amazing. Photographed by Sam Falls, the Icelandic singer is also the guest editor of this issue. Kinga Razjak’s editorial ‘Crystaline’ shot by Ruth Hogben and styled by Katie Shillingford is also a highlight of the issue – you could have mistaken her for Lady Gaga
