For the second entry of the RTT X Nailing.It collaboration – we are playing with KENZO‘s Spring/Summer 2012 fishnet prints! The super popular pattern from Opening Ceremony’s Humberto Leon & Carol Lim’s first collection for the french house will soon be seen on the Vans X Kenzo shoe range, but in the mean time, you can put that onto your nails with some simple steps. All you need is a small brush or a toothpick to draw out the net, and get nail colours from the collection.

“A Scanner Darkly” – Dazed & Confused

Another month, another stunning avant garde editorial from Dazed & Confused – Check out “A Scanner Darkly” in the June issue, inspired by fashion illustrator Renne Gruau’s work (pictures above). Making use of the edgier pieces from the latest Pre-Fall 2012 collections, stylist Karen Langley created a dramatic high contrast look for the editorial, featuring models Ava Smith, Codie Young and Madison Hendrick shot by Daniel Jackson. Absolutely breath-taking!

Street-style icon Taylor Tomasi-Hill was at Sydney for Fashion Week earlier this month to style the ready-to-wear collection of Aussie label OROTON. Looking at the pictures the show really looks like what Taylor would wear herself, the clothes have that laid-back Aussie style with a tinge of American sportswear aesthetics. The highlight of the show must be the pretty lust-worthy draw string leather bag pack, how did it look so chic on the runway?

What I bought during Blueprint Emporium 2012

The entire Blueprint Trade show and Emporium were pretty epic this year. I managed to ‘meet’ buyers from ASOS, LN-CC, Harvey Nichols HK etc, and the shopping days where PACKED with shoppers like me trying to buy items that you can’t normally get here.

I was meant to blog about what to buy at Blueprint Emporium this year BUT then again it’s impossible to name everything when there are 200+ brands from local designers, to CFDA awardees to amazing underground brands at the shopping event! On the last day I got only three items, very happy with what I purchased, although I really hoped that I could get my hands on a Ling Wu bag too…

I got this dress from Timo Weiland. I must have something from the label’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection because 1) I was there at that very show during last year’s New York Fashion Week 2) It was their very first show in the tent at Lincoln Centre and also my first time attending shows at the NYFW tents too. It means a lot to me if I have a piece of that collection, I think!

Q from Bangkok was such a hit at Blueprint – it was many people’s favorite booth and a lot of items were sold-out after a while.

Lalalove London is a Thai/UK brand that specializes in digital printed t-shirts. I remember myself going back 4 or 5 times trying to make up my mind on getting one shirt, and I got this in the end!

Say you like to wear knitted garments in Singapore is crazy, but it’s alright if they are hole-y, sleeveless and cropped. This super talented friend of mine Kelly knitted this top for me – it’s my special request to her so that I can wear her stuff during Blueprint – which I did on Day 2!

I like how colorful it is yet not loud, and it’s perfect for Singapore weather – I never felt warm wearing it. Check out more of her items at kellylimerick.wordpress.com

This must be what AFF meant when they said ‘high octane glamour’ – New York Designer Zac Posen showed about 25 looks from his Autumn/Winter 2012 collection at the Tent@Orchard last night on Saturday to a super well dressed crowd (spotted a lady in head to toe Mary Katrantzou – the mainline, not topshop) for Audi Fashion Festival 2012.

The gowns are needless to say, absolutely stunning. His signature silhouettes include the dramatic fishtail and origami-like folds on the bodice. See all the pictures from the show right here!

JUST IN! Here are 14 photos fresh from the MUGLER Autumn/Winter 2012 fashion show that just happened at the Tent@Orchard for Audi Fashion Festival 2012, with Creative Director Nicola Formichetti and womenswear designer Sebastien Peigné.

The workmanship and construction of some of the pieces are just insanely beautiful, period. Wish he could have shown more looks from the collection but overall – what a great show… can you believe THAT just happened in Singapore?

5 Highlights from Audi Star Creation 2012

Audi Star Creation – one of the most exciting fashion design competition in the region – has just announced their winners for this year!

Liang Wang (Roderic) from China with “Tissue of Being”, Ko YoungJi from South Korea with “Li Jin” and Soravit Kaewkamon from Thailand with “Love and Friendship” – each won themselves SGD$10,000 in cash from Audi Singapore, an internship with leading fashion retailer F J Benjamin and the chance to launch a capsule collection at Star Creation 2013. Roderic Wong also won the Audi Young Fashion Designer Award, receiving an additional SGD$10,000 cash prize. Congratulations to all the winners!

Having watched the runway showdown on Monday 14th May at Tent@Orchard, I can’t imagine how difficult it must have been for the six judges to make a decision. I particularly like all the ‘lighter’ collections – meaning the softer, whiter, less harsh designs. Roderic Wong’s ‘Tissue of Being’ (first picture) has that organic feel about the clothes that you just can’t take your eyes away. The fabrics looked like they have a life on its own, so precious, delicate and fragile, you will be amazed if you’ve seen it in motion!

Shoes from Malaysian finalist Vincent Wong’s “Confession of Sin”

Singapore topmodel in Malaysian finalist Ling Siu Gin’s first look of her “Manimal” collection

Kim Yong Woo, South Korean finalist – “The Existence of Space” – the execution was not very good but it was a stand-out.

One of my top pick from the competition – South Korean finalist’s Kim Soo-Jeong “The Coexistence of Embossed Carving and Intaglio” creations. I had a major goose bump moment looking at the 3D layers/pleats – and got really upset when she didn’t win!

It’s that time of the year again, that one week in May when the city actually feels really fashionably important because of all these designers, celebs, the who’s who of the international fashion scene flying in to this small island. Zac Posen has been tweeting up a storm about Singapore since he landed on Saturday morning and to be honest… I still can’t believe he’s here!

Watching a live debate is exciting, especially when you have the fashion world’s movers and shakers in one room (in the Tent@Orchard actually).
