3 Designer Debuts To Watch This Fashion Week
1. Peter Copping at Oscar de la Renta
The world mourned when Oscar de la Renta passed away late last year. But the show must go on, and it’s in the very good hands of Peter Copping, who was at Louis Vuitton for a decade before moving to Nina Ricci. His signature look can be described as ultra feminine and very appropriate for a ODLR successor. His debut will definitely be THE one to watch this season. Can you believe he was just in Singapore almost exactly two years ago for a talk at LASALLE School of the Arts?
2. Alessandro Michele at Gucci
Frida Giannini’s sacking sent shockwaves throughout the industry but it also gave way for a potentially great designer to step up in the design hot seat aka GUCCI. Kerring (formerly known as PPR group) has this habit of promoting their designers within the house – like how Lee Alexander McQueen’s right hand Sarah Burton took over his label after his death. In Milan, all eyes will be on Alessandro.
3. John Galliano at Margiela
Galliano’s couture show for the French brand back in January is considered a really intense appetiser for any fashion watcher to swallow (that lobster coat – who can forget?). His first ready-to-wear collection for Margiela will debut during Paris Fashion Week.
