Theykens OUT at Theory | Flashback to 1998 when Madonna wore Olivier’s gowns
Olivier Theyskens is on the roam again. Theory, the American contemporary sportswear label owned by Andrew Rosen, has just announced the departure of Theyskens as the Artistic Director, a role he has taken on after the discontinuation of the Theyskens Theory line.
Nowhere seems to be permanent for Olivier, having been the creative director for Rochas from 2003 to 2006, Nina Ricci from 2007 to 2009 and later on at Theory 2011 to 2014. Although the Belgium born designer has been critically acclaimed world-wide for his work, the collections are not equally successful on the sales floor. Someone please just let this guy have his own couture line already.
Before the speculations begin about his next move, here’s a flash back at Madonna’s red carpet appearances in Olivier Theysken’s gowns – reportedly the turning point for the designer back in 1998. Top photo: the pop icon at the VH1 Vogue Fashion Awards and right – at the Academy Awards.
