The Scarf-Collar-Coat at Ermenegildo Zegna
While Hedi Slimane at Saint Laurent Paris has been getting a lot of good and bad attention, Stefano Pilati is slowly gaining his momentum at Ermenegildo Zegna. The good that Stefano does is the kind of quiet charm that he brings to his clothes and you can see how he has put his own perspective into the Italian menswear brand. One of the most underrated Fall/Winter trend is the scarf-collar-coat, where the scarf is attached to the coat and functions are the collar as well. That has been done by Hussein Chalayan and then Phillip Lim. I’m loving Stefano Pilati’s version for Zegna, which was just shown at the Fall/Winter 2014 Milan menswear fashion week, the flowing scarf attached to the collar of a coat or jacket is just to die for. Modernism of a traditional good ol’ winter coat.
