Rodarte couture collection at Pitti W

Written By on Jun 17th, 2011

After Proenza Schouler and Gareth Pugh, Rodarte is the next guest designer invited to show at Pitti W the Italian fashion fair. While the others presented mainly pre-collections, Rodarte crafted out a stunning couture collection of ten dresses constructed from feathers, gold lamé, Swarovski crystals, sequins, and a variety of fabrics in various colors. Apparently the Mulleavy sisters were inspired by Italian artworks, namely Fra Angelico’s frescoes from the Convent of San Marco and Bernini’s The Ecstasy of Saint Teresa.

After Pitti W, the collection will be donated to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
