Kenzo Spring/Summer 2012, Paris

Written By on Oct 4th, 2011

While all the buzz at Paris Fashion Week right now is on Kanye West, one show that sort of went under the radar is Kenzo, now helmed by the owners of Opening Ceremony – Humberto Leon and Carol Lim. They secured their share of star power from American actress Chloe Sevigny, who closed the show in a bright blue jumpsuit.

If you are a huge Antonio Marras fan, don’t you miss his signature Italian romanticism and femininity? He himself is definitely one of the most underrated designers around right now. LVMH’s move to bring Humberto and Carol on board is strategic in turning the label to a younger, cooler direction and a possibility of transforming Kenzo into an ‘IT’ brand while remaining in the luxury sector. Humberto and Carol can’t be more perfect candidates (apparently the Kenzo executives went through over 30 before settling on them). One thing you will definitely notice is the elements of American sportswear in the collection, this almost feels like it came straight out of New York Fashion Week and it has the word Opening Ceremony stamped all over it.
