John Galliano’s new OFFICIAL job: Maison Martin Margiela
In a surprising move, John Galliano has been named the new Creative Director at Maison Martin Margiela. While there have been many rumours and speculations about where will Galliano make his big comeback, it seems like this is pretty certain. It’s not going to be like his previous gig at Oscar de la Renta, this is for real.
The two names don’t seemed to match, which makes the pairing super exciting to watch. Galliano is known for his flamboyant, high glamour take on fashion, the louder the bolder the better. The house of Margiela is elusive in general, just like the designer himself. Margiela has left the house since December 2009 and not ONE single picture has been taken of him. You know that can only be pulled off because social media was not huge back then. Raf Simons and Haider Ackermann were reportedly offered the role before but both turned it down.
If there’s one thing in common that both Galliano and Margiela has, that will be the runway theatrics. Galliano will be able to relate to that pretty well.
