At the Grand Palais Paris – Chanel Spring/Summer 2011
Karl Lagerfeld cancelled his eponymous show on Sunday morning because he doesn’t want to compete with Chanel and ‘be the poor child of myself’. With all the focus now on the French house, he staged yet another extravaganza for Spring/Summer 2011 at the usual venue – the Grand Palais.
In some seasons, the venue was shared among other houses (Yves Saint Laurent showed here last March one day before Chanel moved in the giant ice berg), but this time they have it all to themselves the entire Paris Fashion Week, and instead of building a giant monument to take center stage, the venue was turned into something classy and suiting – a Versailles Gardens-lookalike show stage complete with fountains and 80 musicians on set.
