CLOSE UP: Alexander McQueen Fall/Winter 11/12
If there’s a collection that is fit for a Princess (ahem Kate Middleton), then it must be Sarah Burton’s latest effort for Alexander McQueen. The workmanship and details are intricate, exquisite and couture-like as ever, you can picture someone from the royal family in one of the heavily beaded, feathery gowns for an occasion or in one of the coats with strategically placed furs for an outing. The more hard-edged pieces like the ones with the harness, leather and buckles might not be fit for royalty, but very McQueen nonetheless. After a year on, it still feels like Lee has never been away, and Sarah just never ceases to amaze with her vision for the brand.
