Alena Akhmadullina – Russia’s best kept secret

There aren’t many Russian-born fashion figures in the industry other than models (alright, tons of them), now take a look at one of the most well-known young Russian fashion designer’s work – Alena Akhmadullina.

Having been around since early 2000, when she caught people’s attention with her “Dragon” dress, the back of which was decorated with a laminated dragon ridge and the front – with dragon paws, Alena has been a force to be reckoned with on her home turf, counting former Vogue Russia editor-in-chief Aliona Doletskaya and POP editor-in-chief Dasha Zshukova as some of her many well-known clients.

Her latest Spring/Summer 2011 collection is in a few words – quirky and playful, it has a slight whimsical feel to it while including some safe pieces which still proves her vision, which has always centralized on Russian folklores and fairytales.
