Karl and crew in China: Chanel Paris-Shanghai

posted on December 4th, 2009 · by Laila Lu · comments (3)

If you have watched the short video of the show, and wonder where is the venue. The answer is…

a 280 foot long barge.

800 people on board.

along the famous Huang Pu river.

For the pre-fall collection, the focus is on details again, some pieces are heavy on beading and embroideries almost as intricate and lavished as couture. There are many different extractions of the chinese culture, like paper cut art, asian embellishment and the inspiration comes from different eras of China— the communist and the Imperial court of ancient times. But of course everything is done in the Chanel way, and the theme was not taken too literally (no cheong-sam overload) but more on mixing eastern and western influences.

Abbey Lee opened and Freja closed the show, Shu Pei and Emma Pei walked, but Liu Wen is missing.
