Highlights from Paris MFW

Written By on Jun 29th, 2009

This season, everybody loves white. Givenchy, Gucci, Jil Sander Hugo Boss, Tim Hamilton, Julius On runways, all white does create a certain visual impact, under the lighting and all. In real life, would you rock this look? In Paris, gender bending tricks are not to be missed. At Gaultier as always, and then YSL. Cue »

Zoom in to men shoes Spring 10'

Written By on Jun 29th, 2009

Louis Vuitton— mustard, sequins and socks… check out the texture, rubber heel on suede, looks comfy. Dries van Noten— ethnic prints and woven leather detailing embellished lace-ups. Raf Simons— super sleek entwining details, but I had expected something more from Raf… at least a pair of killer ‘mendals’ (men sandals) or two. Then again, this »

Longchamp ph by Mert & Marcus Continuing from last season’s eccentric pairing of Kate and Sasha, Daria joins the main campaign star as the partner in crime. (Who’s next?) What happened last Friday night. The ‘runway’ venue of Wardroblings was full to the brim, and as we squeezed for a standing space, the models marched out of somewhere onto the very narrow walkway, in some GIGANTIC animal headpieces, holding signs that read ‘No outside food allowed‘ (huh?), ‘Animal have rights too‘ (huh?), ‘Please donate‘ »

Moncler Gamme Bleu Spring 10'

Written By on Jun 26th, 2009

Call this an extraordinary, avant garde show, you got to give it to Thom Browne and team to come up with ideas like this for a fashion presentation. The theme is, still need guessing? Sportswear. It went this way— 57 male bodies covered in ropes lined up in impossibly neat rows on a stage before »

Some thoughts on Milan MFW

Back in action + a mention in URBAN!

Written By on Jun 25th, 2009

I’m back from a short break. OK there are tons of things coming up. Tomorrow will be the Wardroblings event, 10pm at Phuture@Zouk, showcasing looks from seven fresh fashion graduates, some still studying. The above look is from Foo Jia Wen, who’s my senior at TP. You can check out her collection titled ‘Ugly.Beautiful’ here. »

The boys to look out for. Arthur Daniyarov (Elite Milan) Besides that runway record (Jil Sander, Alexander McQueen and Prada, look #2), he has the best psycho/cold-blooded/scare-you-to-hell look in editorials. Arena Homme+ Dazed & Confused Francisco Lachowski (Why Not management) After winning Ford’s Supermodel Brazil, went on to walk for Gucci, Dior Homme and Ferre »
