Following the Spring 09′ campaign bookings, at Chanel, people are predicting Heidi Mount, who is an apparent Karl’s muse-of-the-moment, and Ymre is more or less likely to front Prada. So far, there is Gisele for Dior and Natasha Poly is already sweeping the scene with Missoni and ck jeans already under her belt. The thing is, both are going to be shot by Steven Meisel. I have always thought that she was on his black list. The last time he photographed her was for an US Vogue group shot way back in January 05′. Does this mean that, after conquering Vogue Paris and Russia, Natasha is going to made her grand appearance at Vogue Italia? We shall see.
Last season was all about the return of the supermodels, this time it might not be the case. Wayne of models.com had spoken about this at his own site, that due to the bad economy, booking newer models might be the way to lower the production budget. Then on the other hand, a commercial face would sell better isn’t it? But you never know what could happen. Aquascutum have Gisele Bündchen and Jamie Dornan in the campaigns for a number of seasons already but the brand is still making losses for two years straight, and now it is about to be sold off.
The competition is really tough these days in the modelling circuit, think how many new girls emerged this season and how they have to select carefully with diversity in mind, along with the economic matters. I am going to expect a whole load of shockers this season.

Thats really interesting! Giselle couldn’t keep a company from going under?? Its hard to believe that the luxe biz is suffering in this economy too.

there was an article in the NYtimes about how high end retailers, normally safe during economic trouble, are facing losses. Maybe Gucci and Prada will lower their prices on their bags as a result. yay for me!
I got my Nov 2008 Vogue in the mail yesterday and saw some new ads. Don’t recognize most of the faces in the new ones.
