Couture Fall 08' editorials, all around the world

See how the international Vogues (and one Numéro) pit against each other in terms of photographing the most expensive clothes on earth. Trivia: Meisel didn’t shoot any.

Vogue Italia

Talk about big budget. VI has an entire supplement issue dedicated to Fall couture with 4 editorials inside.

”The Honourable Daphne Guinness” by Steven Klein

Ok this, hands down, one of the best editorials I’ve ever seen done by a non-model. It screams ‘power’ to the max and it simply suits Daphne’s aura very well. This shot with the girl in a mini version of Dior couture is so achingly-cute.

”A Singular Beauty” by Paolo Roversi

Featuring a very solemn Guinevere van Seenus… actually, most of Paolo’s shoots are dark and moody.

Emma Watson by Mark Seliger

Maybe it’s because of her Harry Potter movie role…  these reminds me of a fairytale, with Emma looking all princess-y. In some shots she looked too grown-up but overall, a great editorial.

”Valentino Haute Couture” by Miles Aldridge

Emmanuel Ungaro couture

Ok I was pretty surprised to see Ungaro couture…

Vogue US

”Handmade’s tale” by Patrick Demarchelier

It’s like every other US Vogue ed with Natalia…

Vogue UK

”Hope & Glory” by Mario Testino

Kate Moss looks a little bored in this editorial. Plus, she almost has no makeup or any hair stylist, a rock version of couture?

Vogue Nippon

”Cocktails at 7:00” by Terry Richardson

The styling is pretty interesting with the same old angry Lara in it but I like the lighting the most… I mean couture doesn’t have to be dark and dull all the time.

Vogue China

”Blame it to Paris” by Horst Diekgerdes

The platforms played up the entire editorial, Karmen Perdau is literally doing gymnastics on it but the locations are well, very parisian.

Numéro #96

”La Couture” by Karl Lagerfeld

An all black & white ed by the Kaiser…

So which one is your favourite?

am i the only person sick of seeing kate moss on every other british vogue cover? give someone else a chance…

i love the emma watson editorial, she looks really grown up and the vogue nippon editorial looks really good.

Gosh, I had no idea that it was Dalphine Guiness on the cover. I thought I was looking at Sharon Stone or Agnes Deyne.
I love the longevity of Genivive Van Seenus. She was big or an it girl the very next season after Charoline Murphy. Both had sort of an odd jolie-laide look. You must see Caroline Murphy with the pixie cut.

BTW, I think Vogue Italia got extra money to really blow out the September issue from its sold out July issue.

  3. I like the Vogue Italy editorials.

The US Vogue editorial with Natalia is surprisingly good.

If I’m not wrong, this Testino editorial didn’t get many positively raving reviews from one online fashion community. Yes, Moss looks absolutely spaced-out and stoned, and I have no idea how it works for the look. On the other hand, it’s different to actually see her clothed in some fabric. I always see her naked in most editorials I chance across.
