Sasha needed to go. Any high fashion label risks stagnation if they go with the same model repeatedly. If Sasha stayed, then everyone would have been crying that she’s been with the label too long. I actually think Linda looks great for 43 years old and wears this collection well.
Honestly, I love Prada and Ms. Miuccia (especially now that she has been experimenting with color and vibrancy) but I hate the Fall 08 collection. The clothes look horrendously stuffy and grandma-esque to me and the campaign reflects that.
I am glad that Prada dropped Sasha though. I also like Sasha much but keeping her yet again cannot help Prada or the career of Sasha herself.
Linda is famous for her vibrant facial expression whereas Prada ads always have that dead look in the eyes of its models. That is why the new Prada ad doen’t work.
Linda looks constrained (or constipated) and uncharateristically dead. Praha should have used another “blank face” model OR seriously shake up the ad by letting Linda be herself.
Well, the play with the shadows is OK. And there have been worse (Elise Crombez S/S 03). There is some thought for modernity. I haven`t closed the book on this yet.

No. Miuccia took the wrong decision when she dropped Sasha.

I don’t like it at all! Its too plain. Linda is beautiful, but there’s something missing in those pictures.
