A few days ago, John Galliano showcased his collection for Christian Dior Cruise 08′ at New York City’s World Trade Center. This collection is rather different from his last jetsetter inspired one. It is very flamboyant with a symphony of colours and a pretty strong ‘retro-chic’ feel. The 50s’ and 60s’ glamour look is obvious, with the Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor hairstyle, loads of pearls, ultra-sparkly earrings and cat-eyed shades. The fabric and the details are, as usual, very gorgeous and screams ‘LUXURY!’
(my apologies for the rather blur pictures)

showing you how to pair a nice top with a pair of fitting pants

the never-fading hype over leopard prints

John Galliano’s obssession with the colour pink

since it’s a ‘cruise’ collection, these looks will be great for resort lovers… the tops are so darling!

swimwears with fluffy ropes… I call this the ultimate luxurious look.

a signature style of John Galliano the Great, showstoppping gowns

i love the green gown in the middle because the layers of frills are so girlie and adorable… and the yellow one on the right looks literally like an updated modern version of the traditional Indian sari

more sophisticated evening gowns…

the indian inspiration of this collection is pretty clear. Check put the pants… they love to wear a loose flowy sari with a pair of skinny pants underneath.

these heels are not made for walking… on the runway or anywhere

this model stumbled on the runway… poor girl. Reports said that a few audiences were almost in tears to have witnessed the professionalism of the models.

the finale… John Galliano showed up to thank the crowd.

Hi,
Small side note…the picture with the indian outfit w. skinny pants? That’s not a saree (sari), that’s a churidar – longish lose top with fitted pants. A saree is just one long piece of cloth you wrap all around.
